st: Truckers in general to operate in the US must have as a minimum –Auto Liability Insurance– Coverage (like any other car) but with a minimum limit of $750,000 for Bodily Injury and Property Damage Combined, this is required by the state -if operating within a state- and by the Federal Law if operating between states.
nd: If Truckers haul Freight for other companies or individuals then they must have –Cargo Insurance– to cover any damage to the property of others , regardless if the driver is responsible for the loss or not, as long as its not an intentional loss.
rd :Many truckers have their truck and/or trailer financed through a bank or a dealer so they must have –Physical Damage Insurance– to cover the interest of the finance company or the bank in case of accident or theft, if they don’t then the bank will place their own insurance which is more costly.
th : Truckers may need –Trailer Interchange Insurance– to cover the trailer(s) if its owned by a 3rd party, as many truckers pull loaded trailers for other companies, they hook or unhook trailers at departure or destination.
th :Truckers like any other business may need- Workers Comp Insurance– if they have employees
th : Truckers may need – Bonds or Surety– for certain states they travel to.
th : Truckers may need –General Liability Insurance– if they sign a contract with a major customer, or own their own warehouse.
